My name is Bobbie and I live in a small town outside of Charleston, South Carolina called Summerville. I have been teaching for almost 15 years. I teach in our district's alternative program. Some of you may ask what do I mean by alternative program. Well, we teach the students who are in lieu of expulsion. They give them a second chance to save their school year by coming to our school to finish out the year in a smaller school setting (approx. 150) that is more structured.
This is my second to last Master's course in Library Media. I will be completely finished by October. My favorite technology would have to be my Senteo clickers that I use in my classroom. I use them for a quick assessment for my students. My students love to use these because they are more fun to use than paper and pencil.
I am so glad to have you in class. I love clickers, too, but I really don't use them enough. I need to incorporate them more.
ReplyDeleteThank you for teaching those students that need different strategies and care than the rest of the kids. You are an important part of keeping our educational system up and running for all kids.

Bobbie it is nice to meet you! My school district does not have any alternative programs like yours. They sound like they are very beneficial to the students.
ReplyDeleteI am also getting my masters in Library Media. This is my last course before graduating in May! :-)
I have had an opportunity once to use clickers like you use. My school recently got money that we were not planning on getting this year and are considering getting every classroom a set of the clickers. I see how helpful and fun they can be for teachers and students. Our school is considering them to help with our theme tests and weekly tests in Reading. Many of us don't really know how much help they would be for this though. I think that the students still need the benefit of paper tests to prepare them for State testing. What do you think?
